Sustainable Kitchen

Sustainable Kitchen is an Erasmus+ project that teaches young people aged 12–16 how food, cooking and their everyday choices are connected to climate and sustainability. Through practical food courses and visits to local producers, restaurants and food businesses in Portugal and Slovenia, pupils will gain knowledge and practical skills related to sustainable cooking, local and organic ingredients, food waste and the CO₂ footprint of food.

The project will develop a Green Kitchen Guide with practical advice and a CO₂ calculator to help pupils understand and reduce the climate impact of their food choices. Pupils, teachers, local producers, chefs and restaurants will collaborate to develop and test the materials.

The project aims to strengthen pupils’ green skills, critical thinking and cultural awareness while also fostering stronger cooperation between schools and local businesses. Project runs from 2025-2027.
